Alternatives
A free alternative to Partiful
You can send a Partiful-style invitation on Friends RSVP for free, with no advertising on the invitation your guests open and no account needed — not for you, and not for them. Guests get their own personal link and reply in one click. Here is the honest comparison, including the cases where Partiful is the better choice.
What Partiful is
A modern, free, mobile-first invitation app. Popular for casual parties and nights out, with a strong social feel — guest lists you can browse, comments, and reactions.
- Completely free, with no ads, and no paywalls on its features.
- A genuinely social event page: guest list, comments, reactions, a feed.
- Contact sync and a "mutuals" graph that make inviting a big group fast.
- Ticket sales, chip-in payments, and QR check-in built in.
- Strong, distinctive design that reads as fun rather than corporate.
When Partiful is the better choice
Read this part first. If any of it describes your event, use Partiful.
- Your event is casual, your guests are all on their phones, and you want the party energy — comments, reactions, a guest list people browse. That social layer is genuinely good and we do not have it.
- You want payment collection or ticket sales built into the invite itself, with Venmo, Cash App and PayPal, plus QR code check-in.
- Your guest list is people you already have in your phone. Partiful's contact sync and "mutuals" graph — people you have partied with before — make inviting a large social circle fast in a way a link alone is not.
Side by side
Every claim about Partiful below comes from Partiful's own documentation, linked under each row.
Guest needs an account to reply
No. A guest opens their personal link and replies. No password, no phone number, no app.
Guests must sign in with a phone number before they can RSVP, including guests who were invited by email.
Partiful's own help article is explicit about this: "Guests will still need to log in with their phone number in order to RSVP, even if they were invited via email."

Ads on the invitation
None, on any plan.
None. Partiful is free with no ads, and says so directly.
We agree with Partiful here. This is the one dimension where the two are identical, and it is the reason both are better than an ad-funded free tier.

Delivery — how the invitation actually reaches a guest
Email, sent by us. Each guest gets their own personal link in their inbox; nobody has to be handed a link by the host.
Link sharing across chat apps, plus email invitation by manual entry or spreadsheet upload, capped at 500 email invites per event. Inviting by phone number requires contact sync in the app.
If your guest list is a group chat, Partiful's link sharing is faster. If it is a list of 60 people you need each to receive individually, email delivery does that without manual work.

Text messages to guests
Available as a paid add-on. Email invitations are free.
"Text Blast" lets a host send an update to everyone at once, and invitations can be sent by phone number with contact sync.
Partiful's text features are stronger than ours at every price point. Sending SMS ourselves means a registered messaging service, which is why ours is the paid part.

Photographs from the event
No shared album.
A shareable photo album guests can add their own pictures to.
A real Partiful advantage, and one hosts clearly like.

Number of designs
A few hundred hand-drawn designs across roughly two dozen occasions, several animated on the page your guests open.
Modern, animated invite designs — backgrounds, fonts, animations and posters, all free.
Different sensibilities rather than different amounts: Partiful's look is contemporary and playful, ours is drawn to suit more formal and grown-up occasions as well.

Where their approach stops
Partiful's own help center states that guests must log in with their phone number to RSVP, even when they were invited by email. That is a deliberate product decision — the phone-number login is what makes the social graph and the mutuals feature work, and for a casual party that trade is worth it. It does mean the reply step has a gate on it, and that a guest who will not share a phone number cannot reply through the invitation at all.
Common questions
- Do I need an account to use Friends RSVP?
- No. You can create an invitation, add your guests, and collect replies without signing up. An account exists only to unlock text-message sending and to keep a list of the events you have made.
- Do my guests need a phone number to RSVP?
- No. Each guest gets a personal link by email and replies from that page — no phone number, no password, no app.
- What is the difference between Friends RSVP and Partiful?
- Both are free and neither shows ads on the invitation. The practical difference is the reply step: a Partiful guest signs in with a phone number before responding, while a Friends RSVP guest opens their personal link and replies immediately. Partiful is stronger at casual, phone-first parties — its guest list, comments, photo album and payment collection are things we do not have. We are stronger where you want each guest to receive their own invitation by email with no sign-in, and where the occasion is formal enough that a phone-number prompt would feel out of place.
- Can I send an invitation to someone by email on Partiful?
- Yes — Partiful supports inviting by email, up to 500 guests per event, and their help center documents it. Their help center also states plainly that those guests still have to log in with a phone number to RSVP once they open the email.
- Is Friends RSVP or Partiful better for a wedding?
- It depends what you want more. Partiful's social features and photo album suit a casual celebration; we are built for occasions where the invitation itself should look formal and the reply should take one click. Neither is universally better, and if you want a printed invitation you should look at Evite instead.
